The second work package “Safety and Standardization” (WP2) in NordicH2ubs will study safety and standardization related to hydrogen storage in ports and quality assurance for hydrogen used in transportation. WP2 will be connected to case study 1 “Cross-sectoral hydrogen value chains in Finland” and 3 “Hydrogen infrastructure in ports” in WP1.

Work package 2 studies technological and safety barriers for hydrogen use in transportation applications with special focus on harbour operations and transportation. The work package includes practical work in the form of testing, including safety-related fire-testing and hydrogen purification for transport applications. The development of hydrogen purification and quality assurance methods will follow recommendations from ISO 14687:2019 standard.

Several partners take part in WP2. The partners include VTT, SINTEF AS, SINTEF Ocean, Kemira, Greenstat, Norwegian Hydrogen and The Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology (DBI).
